December 2011
I am officially an man adult in my family. I had a huge argument with my dad about politics and religion that scared my grandparents out of the room. Then we both calmed down while talking about the size of Elko county, some jackass kids who got stopped there, and why I shouldn’t live in Alaska.

My boyfriend and I are going to Nevada on Monday to visit my dad’s side of the family. I could tell he was stressed about it when he told me he was cutting his beard (which he’s been growing for nearly a year) and asked if they’d consider him a hippie for growing his hair out a little bit.
I told him yes. :(
To me, the holidays mean scratches all over my arms and hands from trying to put clothes on all the animals.

Aww this shit’s real as hell. You should see a Dixie Outfitters. There’s one in my mall. I don’t go to the mall anymore. Guess why. I’ll give you a hint: It’s a Simon mall. They allow treasonous Confederate flags, but not saggy pants or ‘gangs’ (groups of 4 or more teenagers). Hmm.

for all the white people who brag about going to a “predominantly black” school and use that to act as if they’ve experienced racism based on being white, shall I remind you that your school probably:

is run by a mostly white administration staff
is in a district whose political representatives are mostly white
is in a school system run by a mostly...

:OO Wowza! I don’t think me and my boyfriend have an official anniversary. I guess it’s when the most important stuff happened. :P Who even knows when that is.
We only know because we went to see a movie on our date and I found the ticket stub like six months later, haha. :D

That’s pretty crappy. What tribe are you from? I have less then that and I am a member of my tribe (Chickasaw). And my kids will be too…. when I have them someday.
I’m Paiute. I was just thinking about the whole thing because of that post floating around from Urban Native Girl about dating as a Native,...
It’s weird to think that if I ever had children with my boyfriend, they wouldn’t be enrolled with my tribe because they wouldn’t meet b.q. requirements. The cut off is 1/4.
Geezzzz. I am the worst girlfriend ever. I forgot yesterday was our ~anniversary~. Woo, 6 years. That’s a hella long time. :)

When I was 16 years old, I was raped at knife-point by a stranger. Not having a clue how to handle it, I decided to confide first of all in my pastor. While I was literally still bleeding from the attack, he told me (and I quote) “It’s too bad that you...

the commodification of our cultural artifacts speaks more to the depravity of western capitalism than it does to our own complicity in cultural appropriation.

Anonymous asked: Why would native people sell their necklaces and moccasins at craft fairs if they didn't want me to wear them? They don't sell them to me with some big disclaimer about them being sacred; they sell them to me and tell me they'd look great with my sweater or they'll keep my feet warm at night. I get being pissed when big companies rip off native style, but why hate on people who...
